Blending my passion for food science and video production spawned what I can only describe as my pride and joy. On this channel, I have produced dozens of cooking show-esque style videos to the best of my ability, with each one requiring me to confront a new challenge. Since I handle all aspects of production AND host the show, this project tests my ingenuity at every crossroad.
Initially, I struggled to maintain focus while moving around on set, but then I discovered how to monitor my cameras wirelessly to continuously check focus remotely. Then I encountered RF interference with my wireless audio transmitters, so I learned how to record locally onto a field recorder and sync my voice in post-production. Lighting in a kitchen with many windows also poses a challenge, as the sun does its best to keep me on my toes, requiring me to check my exposure meter regularly. These problems on set don't even consider the stylistic choices and shifts I've made in my post-production workflow.
All in all, the many videos I have created for this channel have all served as stepping stones. My practice has helped me turn my production days into something more formulaic. I have indeed found my stride and aim to focus entirely on being as entertaining as possible while still finding creative ways to edit my message in fun and relatable ways. Now, if only my cooking skills matched my video production skills!
